Milk Poli (Paal Poli) – Bogi Special

Bogi Special …..

Starting off with a traditional sweet – Paal Poli
This is yummy and very easy to make..

Paal Poli / Milk Poli is a dessert that is prepared on Bogi – the day before pongal (in my inlaws home it is a custom to make paal poli on bogi)

I prefer giving it a twist instead of plain milk with elaichi I add ground almond to the milk with saffron, sugar and elaichi.
Maida/All purpose flour – 1 Cup
Salt – ¼ tsp for the flour
Milk – 1 Ltr
Sugar – 1/4 cup (can add more depends on the sweetness required)
Almonds – 20 nos
Cardamom Powder     – 1 tsp
Saffron –  5 to 7 strands
Ghee    – 1 tsp
Any vegetable Oil  – to fry the polis
•           Mix the maida and salt and add some water to it and knead the dough at the end add ghee and rest the dough for ½ hour.
•           Now boil the milk with sugar and when the milk reduces to half add saffron strands to it.
•           Grind the almonds in a mixer and add to the boiled milk and also add the cardamom powder.
•           Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
•           Roll the dough into small pappad shape and deep fry them in hot oil.
•           Now add the fried polis to the milk mixture.
•           We can make 15 polis.
Garnish with blanched almonds, pista and serve the milk poli hot or cold…It will taste yummy..
