Brussel sprouts n Broccoli spicy Masala

Brussel sprouts and broccoli are now easily available in major shops in Chennai.  Both these veggies are high in dietary fibers, calcium and iron. Why not use these veggies in our traditional cooking was my thought for quiet some time. And decided on a spicy masala and it was a great accompaniment for the typical chennai parotta.

Ingredients:

1 cup – Broccoli florets
15 nos – Brussel sprouts
1 – Onion
1 -Tomato
1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
½ tsp – Cumin seeds
2 tbsp – Oil
To grind to a paste:
1 tbsp – Grated coconut
1 tsp – Cumin seeds
6 – Cashews
4 – Red chillies
1- Cinnamon, Cardamom, Clove
Method:
Dry roast the above ingredients except for cashews for a minute and grind it to a smooth paste with some water.Add cashews at the end and blend it again.
In a heavy pan add oil once hot add cumin seeds once they splutter add onions and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. 
Now add the tomatoes. Saute the tomatoes till they soften. 
Add the Brussels and broccoli and cook it covered for 3 min.

Add the masala to the par cooked veggies to which add turmeric powder and salt. Add ¼ cup water and add chopped coriander cook it covered with a lid.
Cook in low fire till the masala is done and serve hot!!!

    Wow….what an interesting twist to what are otherwise considered as 'Foreign' vegetables!!! I am sure all those ppl who eat broccoli just for health sake would devour this one!!
