Falafel a Middle eastern street food. Its made with chickpeas patties, some pickled veggies with some sauce and served in pita bread. But the same dish is adapted to suite my family’s taste buds wrapped in a chappathi!!!

It’s a complete pack of salad, crispy patties, hot tomato spread and chappathis. My SH liked it so much.

For the patties:

½ tsp – Garlic n ginger paste
1 tsp – Cumin powder
1 tsp – Red chilli powder
1 – Green chillies
2 tbsp – Fresh coriander, finely chopped
Oil for frying

Cook black chana in pressure cooker for 3 whistles with water and salt and let it cool.
In a blender add green chillies, cumin powder, chilli powder, coriander, ginger n garlic paste, cooked black chana n salt and blend to smooth paste.
Transfer the mashed beans add flour and mix it.
Roll into shape of patties and deep fry the balls until they turn a deep brown in color.
For the Wrap:
2 cups – Wheat flour
1 tsp – Salt
1 cup – Water

Make the dough for chappathi and rest it for 10 min and prepare chappathis without oil or ghee.
For the Salad:
2 cups mixed – Shredded cabbage, carrot, capsicum, tomato and onion (thin sliced)
For the dressing:
3 tbsp – Hung curd
1 tbsp – Fresh coriander
1 – Green chillies seeded and finely diced
Salt and pepper to taste

Add dressing to veggies and chill for 30 minutes.
For the Tomato spread:
4 – Tomatoes, chopped
½ – Onion, chopped
3 stems – Fresh coriander
¼ cup – Tomato puree
1 ½ tsp – Red chilli powder
1 tsp – Salt
2 tbsp – Oil
In a pan add oil once hot add tomatoes, salt and red chilli powder cook until soft.
Add tomato puree and let it simmer slowly until all juices are done.
At the end add fresh coriander and close the lid and switch off the stove.
Cool it and store it in refrigerator.
For the complete wrap:

Spread tomato paste on the chappathi top with salad.
Now add patties and again a spoon of tomato paste.
Tightly roll the chappathi and wrap it with aluminum foil.

I'm a big time falafel fan and I usually have it everyweek from a Jordanian shop near my home. I love your idea of making falafel with kala channa and coriander – sounds like a delicious twist to this classic!
