Everyone who have tasted authentic Kerala dishes will love appaam n puttu. Appam is the one dish which my mother and grand mother have never tried.

Your appams have come out well.Tempting ones.you know Kalpana, this is the way Tamil appams are being made.Since they use urad dal instead of yeast, the fermentation will be done that way.But in real kerala style appam,we either use yeast or toddy/coconut water for fermentation.

    Lovely post.Am drooling over !

I think most of the departmental stores do have such idols.. Next time when I come to India I will keep an eye for such an idol and snap it once I see it… My gift to you:)

this looks lovely! We make Appams without yeast but add some fresh coconut toddy instead. But this one with urad dal is new and surprising.
