Healthy and quick pongal. Its a perfect breakfast or a dinner dish. Goes good with any chutney, sambhar or vatha kuzhambhu.
What you need:
Pearl Barley – 1 Cup
Moong Dhal – 1/2 Cup
Pepper corns – 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Ginger – 1 tsp – (chopped finely)
Green Chillies – 2 nos (finely chopped)
Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Oil – 1/2 tsp
Ghee – 1/2 tsp
Salt as reqd
How to make:
Cook barley, dhal, salt with 3 and 1/2 cups water for 7 – 8 whistles.
Mix them well, now in a pan add oil and gheee add pepper corns, cumin, curry leaves, ginger and green chill. Saute them well.
Now add the cooked barley and dhal mix them well and serve hot!
