Kalan Soya pirattal sadam is a easy to make rice dish. Mushrooms and Soya are best protein suppliers for vegetarians. This is a super easy to make stir fry rice. The flavors from freshly ground pepper and jeera gives nice aroma to this rice dish.  This can also be taken as a side dish for any Indian bread. Since mushrooms are high in water content they cook faster.

Nei pirattal sadham is a famous chettinadu recipe and served on most of the auspicious occasions. Kalan (Mushroom) is majorly used for this pirattal. I added some soya chunks which was leftover. Only ghee is used to make this dish which gives a fantastic taste. This makes a perfect lunch box dish for adults and for kids too. Easy to make lunch box rice dish in less than 30 minutes. This rice does not need any raitha a stir fry vegetable or salad will do. Spiciness can be reduced if its is made for kids.

Prep time – 15 mins Cooking time – 10 mins Serves – 2

What you need:
Cooked Rice – 1 cup

Button Mushrooms – 1 Pack, cleaned, dried and chopped

Soya – 1/2 cup, cooked (optional)

Onion – 1 no, chopped

Ginger and garlic – 1/2 tsp each, finely chopped

Green chilly – 1 no, slit open

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Ghee – 1 tsp

Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

Salt as reqd

Dry Roast & ground to coarse powder:
Black Pepper corns – 1 tsp

Cumin seeds / Jeera – 1 tsp

How to make:

Heat ghee in a kadai add curry leaves, green chillies toss it add garlic, ginger, onion and saute well.

Add mushroom, soya and saute well and cook until the water is dried up which is left by mushroom.

Add the ground powder, salt mix well and cook for a minute. Add cooked rice give a nice toss and sprinkle coriander and serve hot!

Made ginger and Beetroot curry with radish salad to go with this lunch box.
